Resources  to help get your site online

Here are a few things to know about setting up your site.
Following these will help get your site up and running in no time.

Setting up to do your site!

Get your Domain Name

Jen recommends using Godaddy as your domain registrar just because they are easy to work with and their prices are very reasonable. You are free to use whom ever you desire. You should look for coupon codes for Godaddy before you sign up to save yourself some money.

Sign up for hosting

Jen recommends using Site Flip for hosting as it is the least expensive host she has found.  There are many many good options out there and you are free to use any hosting account you choose.  Just remember we need the info from them to upload and work on your site.

Layout what you want on your web site

Jen's does not write content for your site.  We prefer that you write exactly what you want.  Keep your content as simple and easy to understand as possible and as relevant to your service as you can. We can give you suggestions, but this is YOUR site and you know your business much better than anyone else!

Search engines will like your site better if it is easy to "read", has "relevant content" and is not "flooded with images".  A few well placed images are fine and will help you achieve a pleasing look.

Using the same word or phrase over and over is not a good idea either, as the search engines consider that "spamming" and will block you from their indexes.
Find 7 or 8 words that describe what you do, as these will be used on your pages, so search engines will help people find you. These are your keywords.

Gather texts, images, information to use on your site

Write your text out in a word processor or notepad and save them as the name of the page they will go on.

Make folders with the images you want for each page. Name them the same way...

"home images",  "contact images" and so on.  This will make it easier to create a good looking site.

If you have a template that you want for your site, we will use that, other wise we will create a template using colors that you have picked out or even "copy" your business card for a matching look!

Your site should be easy to navigate and fast loading for good search engine placement. Having your "key words"  through out your text will help with this also.
